Leather Manufacture

Mimosa extract is a very versatile tanning compound and can be used for tannage on its own or in combination with other tanning compounds. There are many speciality types of leather produced by combining Mimosa extract with other chemicals, such as chrome or organic tanning compounds, in pretannages or retannages.

Mimosa extract is used mainly in the tannage of heavy vegetable leathers, such as sole, saddlery, insole, case, belt, industrial leathers, but also for light leather manufacture e.g. garment, lining, shoe upper leathers and upholstery etc; such tannages can use the specialized Mimosa extracts either as stand alone tannages or in combination with mineral tanning salts.

Our well known wattle extract brands for leather, Mimosa ME Powder, Osprey, Elephant and Solid Mimosa, are used to tan and retan leathers for shoes, belts, saddles, harnesses etc. These standard wattle extracts are complemented by a range of specialized products such as Mimosa GS, FS, WS, MS, DK, RG, RN, CR, and Golden, together with the very specialized Mimtan range of products, developed for tanning and retanning an extended range of dynamic leathers for example automotive upholstery.
